    NWA Anarchy TV
John Johnson interviews The Entourage...Jay Clinton "single-handedly" retired Iceberg, see, and they blame The New Wave for Iceberg's career being over. Derrick Driver & Steven Walters beg to differ and the brawl spills out of the interview area and into the arena. The New Wave members attempt to hit the Unskinny Bop on Andrew Alexander, but Mr. Black cuts off Derrick Driver with a huge sitout chokeslam. The heels all hit their signature moves to lay out the former tag champs...referees and security finally arrive to restore order.

Skirra Corvus vs. Hayden Young for the Young Lions' Title: Young beat Corvus in a non-title match a few weeks ago, so now he gets a championship match. The commentators note that the match has a ten-minute time limit...uh-oh. Corvus takes over as the clock ticks down...Young goes for flash pin attempts when he has an opening, but Corvus keeps cutting him off. Corvus misses a swanton bomb and Young rallies with a minute to go, but a Cactus Clothesline sends them both to the floor and that's not where he wants to be. They brawl on the floor as the time runs out...it's a draw and Corvus escapes with his belt.

Greg Hunter interviews newcomer Aden Chambers...he won the 2008 Super 8 Tournament and has been in the ring with Georgia alumni like A.J. Styles and Austin Creed. Coming up, he has a T.V. Title shot at Shaun Tempers...

Corey Hollis vs. Jacob Ashworth: Ashworth is making his Anarchy wrestling debut after having been a referee in the past. Ashworth has control...but Jeremy Vain sends Orion Bishop to clear out the deadwood. Call it a no-contest as Bishop destroys Ashworth...Hollis decides to stick up for himself only to get speared out of his boots. Shadow Jackson makes the real save and disposes of Bishop before getting in a few shots on the backpedaling Heavyweight Champion. Promoter Jerry Palmer decides to enlighten us...sounds like the setup for a title match. Vain won't be able to run...in a dog collar match at Fright Night!

Talent & Money vs. Team Macktion(Kirby & T.J. Mack) for the Tag Team Titles: Kirby(Krazy K) is a former T.V. Champion...his brother T.J. occasionally goes by "Dexter Poindexter", a name also used by a St. Louis-area worker in the past. The Macks have held tag team gold in other organizations and show their continuity in the early going. The champs seek refuge on the floor after eating a flurry of double-teams, but fall victim to stereo planchas. The double-teaming backfires and the champs isolate Kirby Mack...T.J. finally gets a hot tag after several minutes. He rallies with offense, but tags Kirby back in fairly quickly. They connect with a double 619 on J.T. Talent and plant Andrew Pendleton III with a huge double Rock Bottom, followed by a double dropkick...for a two-count for Kirby. T.J. tags in and they set up for some kind of finish, but Talent boots T.J. back into the corner to knock Kirby off balance. Talent sends Kirby to the floor as Pendleton hits the Widow's Peak, then Talent connects with a clothesline off the second rope(not quite Paydirt but close enough) to give Pendleton the pinfall. They claim an off-night for Fright Night, but the locker room empties as several teams step up to the plate. It is announced that Fright Night will feature a Tag Team Mega Rumble and the winners will get the Tag Team Title shot later in the night. That'll work...

Next week: Mikael Judas & ? vs. Phil Shatter & Kimo.

    HVW/MMWA-SICW Double-Shock Special Comment
HVW scheduled an afternoon show so people could work both their show and LWA's evening show...however, LWA cancelled their show and their regulars opted to take other bookings. HVW may have been a bit shorthanded with the absences of not only Gary Jay, Pierre Abernathy, and Evan Gelistico but also Heavyweight Champion Kahagas and "The Future" Donovan Ruddick. Despite that, they put together a solid card and only one person worked twice(Eric Allen).

The attendance was a bit disappointing but the fans were energetic and made plenty of noise for the show. I've seen big crowds(at both comedy and wrestling shows) that didn't react to much of anything, so the alternative can be nice.

Sadie's "insanity" angle from GCW took place years ago, so the straitjacket-esque ensemble may be unusual to uninformed onlookers. I dug the pinstriped-suit look he had when he first joined forces with D.N.S....

Poodoo The Cow's glorious winning streak ends at two(including a win over Gary Jay at IWA Mid-South on Friday night). Better luck next time. I'd note that cows are technically female, but I'm under direct orders from Chuck Maddox to not give a Poodoo match anything less than a million billion stars.

The show started with a heel win...and then we had two MORE heel wins before a face finally went over. Combine that with the downer ending to the show and this was an odd way to do a Toys For Tots-themed event. :)

Had heard that Bailey Mannix would be working this show...he and Allen seem to be semi-aligned in two different promotions now. Saw Bucky Collins at IHW in October and Crane at a few MECW shows. Tag match was fun though they seemed to get lost in the ending sequence for a little bit...they worked through it, though.

Magic Man seems to be on the hunt for a new star protege after being dumped by Future. Dixieland Destroyer was dominant(I hate alliteration)...felt bad for Zypertin taking those two HUGE sentons. Matt Cage...was upset by Dan The Man. Fans still hate him, of course. HELLO~!

Saw Dan Walsh enter the building...wasn't sure if he was just visiting, but it looked like he had his gear with him. Haven't heard that theme music since the days of Kory Twist. :) Walsh and Sean Vincent had some battles over the GCW Light Heavyweight Title back in the day and they had a tremendous matchup. Walsh didn't look too rusty considering he's had one match in the past year or so(FTW in June vs. Tony Angel). Hope to see him at the wrestling shows more often...and hopefully the local comedians can check out one of those shows. Bwahahaha...

I joked about how the members of Babewatch seem to have different roles in each promotion...Espy even joked about that when I talked to him at Broadway. I honestly forgot whether Aarons was a face or a heel when he came out...heh. He called out Espy(not in attendance at HVW) and got Eric Allen instead. Fine standard-issue match between the two(considering their last encounter involved ladders, tables, and other accesories). Sick cobra clutch suplex to finish.

When MsChif started off the match with her trademark scream in Santana's direction, I made the smart-aleck callout "I guess a handshake is out of the question?" So MsChif shook Santana's hand. :-D The match was basically face vs. face...it worked for what it was. Santana has looked good considering her limited experience...though I think it was a bit soon for Coastal Championship Wrestling(Florida) to put their Women's Title on her. Already saw Destiny Diamond hold the MMWA-SICW Women's Title in her rookie year. Not nearly enough female rasslers on the indy circuit these days, so the options are limited. Santana took the Code Green like a champ...that's a tricky move to pull off. Some people thought Santana might win since her father is the promoter...what, nepotism in wrestling? GET RIGHT OUT OF TOWN~!

Main event was really good and energetic and it got a ton of time. Neil Diamond Cutter took Jeremy Wyatt's piledriver onto the edge of the ring apron and was down and out...they had to stretcher him to the back after the show. The Hooligans ran off the heels with chairs to close the show...kind of a half-hearted effort to send the fans home happy.

Not nearly as many talking segments on the show, so that was a plus...but then, as I said, a lot of the major players were MIA. We'll see how their next show shapes up.

The evening's choices were AAPW and Broadway...but AAPW was a lengthy drive away and I didn't want to overdo it with a borrowed vehicle. I almost didn't HAVE a vehicle for the weekend, all things considered.

Didn't know anything about the Broadway card, but I see the card was posted on their message board earlier in the day. Some notable absences affected the card...Gary Jackson was MIA, Dave Vaughn was there but didn't work(Missouri license issues?), A.J. Williams is still recovering from last week's knee injury.

Noted a few things like faces using heel tactics(i.e. eye rakes) and heels using face spots(i.e. sunset flips)...kinda muddies the waters when people don't work the crowd that much. However, the South Broadway crowd tends to be energetic more often than not.

A match between a Mexican(Espy) and a Canadian(Vincent) got a "USA" chant. *headdesk* I was fearing a heel vs. heel matchup, but with Vincent in full Canadian glory and Travis Cook by his side, he was the clear heel and Espinosa did a promo to establish himself as the face for the night. They worked a tremendous matchup and fought to a fifteen-minute draw(with Espy getting a small package for a near-pin right at the closing bell). Vincent had two strong matches in one day and Espy's had some really good outings since returning to MMWA-SICW action.

Thought Blade-Static flowed better than last week's matchup...though in this case Blade went semi-heel at the end by winning via valet distraction.

I swear it's been forever since I've seen an actual tag match at a Broadway show. In fact, it seems like I see the Lumberjacks in singles matches more than tags. Waco vs. Abe didn't have a clear crowd favorite so the fans weren't really into it...and they did their second time-limit draw in three matches.

Why does Travis come out with Texan but not Waco? The Lumberjacks were in each other's corners but Texan wasn't out with Waco and vice-versa(though Waco came in for the save when the Lumberjacks double-teamed Texan). At least with Travis out there, we would have known that Texan & Waco were the heels, thus the Lumberjacks were faces by process of elimination though they generally use heel tactics and interfere in each other's singles matches...my head hurts.

I joked that we wouldn't see too many flying headscissors or whatnot in Blunt vs. Rover, though I was reminded that Blunt pulled out such tomfoolery in his younger days. With both Travis and Vincent at ringside, we had some restaurant-quality cheating on the side of the champion. Rover chased Vincent away from ringside before the match and Vincent was almost cartoonish in his frantic retreat...he returned to ringside shortly thereafter, though. Rover's bone comes into play in roughly 100% of his match finishes, I have noticed. :)

They've been building a program with A.J. Williams and Johnny Courageous over the Jr. Heavyweight Title...they're both faces and I have a hard time seeing either of them going heel. I do note that the Connection is in need of a junior heavyweight contender since Vaughn's face turn...

Again, odd match ordering...technically Gabe vs. Texan was the biggest match in terms of size. It was another heel vs. heel matchup...Texan had Travis in his corner but Gabe had Abe and Abe interfered more than Travis did...in fact, Abe entered the ring to attack Texan and that brought out Waco. Only then did the referee call for the bell, making it a no-contest. Kind of an "ehh" way to end the show...at least have someone announce a tag grudge match at the next show or something. Instead, the show just ended with Travis gloating...not exactly a send-the-fans-home-happy moment THERE either.

Anywho, it was a fun weekend...next weekend is MMWA-SICW in East Carondelet with Baron Von Raschke appearing(paging Pete Madden~!). I wrap up the year with the LWA in House Springs on the 19th...

    Comedy Part 229: Sparse Crowd
    Location: Westport Funny Bone
    Emcee: Joe Lehnig
    After: Christian Lawrence
    Before: Greg Warren

Not many people in attendance tonight, so they kept the show relatively short. Haven't had much opportunity to write new material, so I focused on delivery and stage confidence. Don't remember how the holiday season usually affects the comedy crowds...we'll see how Comedy Etc. does tomorrow night. Unfortunately Gigger's has already shut down, so that potential avenue is out of the picture...
    1:35 am
    ECW TV
The Abraham Washington Show featured Zack Ryder & Rosa Mendes as the guests; they wrote poetry for each other and Ryder was so excited that he jumped up and down on the couch.

Goldust vs. S. William Regal(w/ Vladimir Kozlov & Ezekiel Jackson): Regal attempted to play peacemaker between his two cohorts backstage. However, a ringside argument between the two distracted Regal and led to Goldust getting the rollup pin.

Trent Beretta & Caylen Croft vs. Tyler Hilton & Bobby Shields: The Dudebusters have arrived...run in fear. Beretta pinned Shields after an inverted atomic drop(Croft)/running dropkick(Beretta) combo and they marked out for their own post-match highlight reel.

ECW Champion Christian Cage & Shelton Benjamin vs. Vladimir Kozlov & Ezekiel Jackson(w/ S. William Regal): Regal seemed to have his henchmen back on the same page, but Jackson walked out on his partner late in the match. That allowed Shelton to tag in and deliver a Stinger Splash and Paydirt on Kozlov for the victory.

    6:26 pm
    ROH On HDNet
Eddie Kingston vs. Claudio Castagnoli: Chris Hero insults Kingston before the matchup...Hero and Claudio were tag team partners(and champions) in another lifetime. Hero takes a seat at ringside to "observe"...this may qualify as a style clash. Kingston fares well, but keeps getting occupied with Hero's presence and Claudio takes advantage. Claudio shows impressive power by manhandling Kingston on several occasions...but Kingston surprises him by countering the Ricola Bomb with a rana(two-count)! The referee stops Kingston from using a chair, but it's a feint as he pulls out Hero's stolen elbowpad and wipes out Claudio with a loaded spinning backfist! Kingston gets the victory...yup, he is fighting like Chris Hero.

The Briscoe Brothers vs. The Dark City Fight Club: The Fight Club busted up a tag match between the Briscoes and the Young Bucks a few weeks ago, so we have this match. It's a brawl for most of the way and the fight spills out of the ring where a chair comes into play. Finally the referee throws the match out...they'll fight again, I'm sure. The locker room empties to separate the warring tag teams...

Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. The Set(J-Sinn & Lance Lude): The members of The Set have the big guy/small guy dynamic going, though J-Sinn seems more scrawny than anything else. Generico falls victim to some unique double-teams, but Steen tags in and the momentum shifts right there. Steen pins J-Sinn(I think...the scrawny one) after a swanton bomb by Generico and a frog splash by Steen.

Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries vs. Colt Cabana(n/t): ...or if you prefer, The Austin Starr vs. Scotty Goldman. Cabana does extremely well for himself against the champ...but when the fight ends up on the floor, Aries Russian-legsweeps him into the ringpost(OW). Cabana pays tribute to his former broadcast colleague with a series of bionic elbows, then hits an Asai moonsault(!) for a near-fall. Aries cuts off a Flying Apple attempt but misses the big splash off the top, allowing Colt to hit a Hart Attack-style clothesline...for two. Colt 45...no, Aries counters into a shinbreaker and back suplex. Colt catches a corner dropkick attempt but Aries has a deathgrip on the ropes...Cabana climbs the turnbuckles and drops him straight south onto the corner bolt! Cover...for two. Colt 45(double-underhook over-the-shoulder backbreaker)...HITS, but Aries grabs the bottom rope at the last split-second. Billy Goat's Curse...no, Aries kicks him to the floor and nails the low-altitude suicide dive! Back into the ring, Aries hits the brainbuster...for two?!? Colt avoids a head punt and gets the 'Curse, but Kenny King runs out...Brent Albright cuts him off, but the referee gets distracted by this and totally misses Aries' tapout. Rhett Titus comes in from the other side of the ring, but Colt swats him off the top rope...only to get caught with the corner dropkick! One head punt later, Aries hooks the Last Chancery to get the submission victory. Albright jumps in, but the damage has been done.

    WWE Raw
-Maryse Ouellet & Jillian Hall d. Divas' Champion Melina Perez & Gail Kim when Maryse pinned Melina after the French Kiss DDT.
-Sheamus O'Shaunessy vs. Santino Marella never officially started as Sheamus simply beat down Santino, ending with the pump kick and Irish Edge before spearing him through a table in the corner.
-Randy Orton d. Kofi Kingston with the RKO; Kingston was attacked by both Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. before the match, but still wanted to go through with the match.
-Carlito Colon returned to interrupt a John Cena promo but was silenced with an Attitude Adjustment.
-Mark Henry(w/ guest host Verne Troyer) d. U.S. Champion Mike Mizanin(n/t) with the World's Strongest Slam.
-Triple H(w/ Shawn Michaels) d. Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho(w/ Big Show) via rollup after powering out of a Walls Of Jericho attempt. If Jericho had won(HA!), next week's Raw would have featured H vs. Jericho & Show in a handicap match. Since H won(shocking, I know), it'll be DeGeneration X vs. Jericho in a handicap match next week.
    1:35 am
    NWA Anarchy TV
-Seth Delay & Mike Posey d. A.D.D.(Manchild & Jamie Lee) when Delay pinned Lee after a Strongbuster. Slim J's music played...but a midget entered dressed as Slim J...Delay & Posey beat up the midget for fun.
-Caprice Coleman d. Aden Chambers with a flying snapmare driver(formerly the Thermal Shock, now called That's Life). Coleman did a heck of a pre-match promo...this dude's got TEH CHARISMA.
-Greg Hunter interviews El Veterano IV...Todd Sexton interrupts and threatens to unmask him before shoving him. Veterano attacks and the locker room has to separate them.
-Kimo(w/ Jeff G. Bailey) d. Alejandro Bravo & Michael Payne in a handicap match when he pinned Payne after his version of the STO. Mikael Judas ran in to prevent a post-match attack and nearly delivered El Crucifijo, but settled for a double-underhook suplex into the turnbuckles...ow. Jerry Palmer arrived to enlighten us...he got rid of Dan Wilson at Wargames but he's not done. Judas vs. Kimo at Fright Night...stipulations to be named later.
-The Wild Bunch d. The Hate Junkies when Billy Buck pinned Dany Only via superkick after a tripup by Chris King. The Junkies attacked post-match but bailed when Don Matthews & Jessco Blue arrive on the scene.
-Shadow Jackson vs. Orion Bishop ended in a no-contest when Heavyweight Champion Jeremy Vain ran in from the broadcast booth only to take a beating from Shadow.
-Ace Rockwell d. T.V. Champion Shaun Tempers(n/t) via Aces High in a match where a closed-fist punch would result in an automatic DQ; Ace gets a title shot at Tempers and gets to name the stipulation.

    MMWA-SICW Special Comment
Not many groups run on Thanksgiving weekend...I've seen promotions schedule shows for that weekend and then cancel. I was only aware of this show because of a mention during the local-access TV show. Charter Illinois WILL air a current episode every once in a blue moon...

That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the strong turnout for the show. Say what you will about Broadway(and many do, myself included)...they consistently draw. Other groups in the area could take a lesson from them in that regard. Consider the holiday weekend AND the fact that it was their first show in Fairmont City...

Larry Matysik was in the house as an unannounced surprise guest...they auctioned off several autographed copies of his new book, "Drawing Heat The Hard Way". They also announced that Baron Von Raschke would be the special guest at next month's show in East Carondelet on the 12th...THAT IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW. :-D

Venom reportedly debuted with the promotion last week in East Carondelet...he sports a Mankind/Abyss-style mask. I believe he faced Core last week as well. I wish they had decided who was going to be the heel in this matchup as both of them used heel tactics at different points in the matchup. Not exactly the kind of opener that gets the fans into the action, sorry to say. Venom was up pretty quickly after Core's finisher, too...

This show went LONG...don't think anything but the battle royal went under 10-12 minutes(going by the announced times). It started a bit after 8:00 and got done around 11. You're keeping a lot of the kids in attendance up past their bedtime. :)

Speaking of the kids, a bunch of them played around in the ring before the show and during intermission...gotta keep an eye on that sort of thing because someone could get hurt. Also, you don't know if the ropes could get loosened from the kids jumping on them, thus putting the wrestlers at risk.

Back to the wrestling...Texan was announced as Battle Royal Champion and representing the Connection, but Travis Cook wasn't in attendance(*sob*) and he wasn't announced as Tag Team Champion. They were a bit shorthanded on this night...no Heavyweight Champion Phil E. Blunt, no co-Tag Champ Waco, no Johnny Courageous(out sick), etc. Rover is always OVAH. This match lasted a really long time.

Static's main strength is his connection with the fans...so it seemed counterproductive to book him against another face. May have been a consequence of the reduced talent pool for the night, I suppose. They teased a twenty-minute draw, but Blade hit his finisher in the closing minute. Hadn't seen Aurora before...she apparently debuted last weekend in East Carondelet as well and is training to wrestle.

Yeah, I'll say it...in my opinion, the first half of the show wasn't that great wrestling-wise. Of course, the fans were into the action, so what does this internet nitwit know? :)

Weird to tease Gary Jackson vs. Espy only to deliver Gary vs. Texan. Texan had a busy night as he worked three times(including the battle royal). Gary's the main guy that gets mic time in the group and delivers more often than not. Espy's heel schtick seems to center on "I was in the PWI 500!", similar to how Mike Sydal's schtick revolves around "My brother is Evan Bourne!"

The wrestling side of things took an upward turn around this time with Vaughn vs. Hargas. They fought a few months ago in East Carondelet but this time it was face vs. face. Hargas played a subtle heel role to unify the fan support behind Vaughn, but they still did the post-match mutual respect handshake. Wouldn't mind seeing these guys lock up again sometime.

A.J. vs. Espy? Yes, thank you. They had a tremendous matchup at South Broadway a while back that was face vs. face...this time Espinosa was the obvious heel. A.J. tweaked his knee at one point when executing a double-axhandle off the top rope...they worked around it with Espy targeting the leg after avoiding a superkick. Espy bailed to the outside whenever he got in trouble and rolled out of the ring after eating the superkick out of nowhere.

Espinosa switched tactics and targeted the back, including a nice counter of a superkick attempt into a Boston crab. Williams missed a moonsault and Espy went for the kill as time ticked away...but when A.J. turned the tide, he went to a figure-four leglock and Espy tapped right AFTER the bell rang to signal the expiration of the time limit. Fun ride and it looks like they'll fight again sometime...they set up a future matchup between the two(six-man tag?) but A.J.'s knee was in rough shape so it would have to wait for another day.

The battle royal included everyone on the card except Gary Jackson(left early?) and A.J.(knee)...controversial elimination as Rover pulled Texan under the bottom rope and the referees somehow missed it, thinking Texan went over the top. Guess the Battle Royal Title wasn't on the line...since Vaughn has won two of these in recent months, does that make him the top contender to that belt? :) A battle royal is a fine way to cap off a show with a face win...

Anywho, fun time...just a few more shows in the year. HVW has an afternoon show on the 5th and I'm still deciding on where to go that evening. AAPW is a long drive so I may go to South Broadway instead. 12th is MMWA-SICW in East Carondelet and LWA's Yuletide Terror is on the 19th in House Springs.

-Dave Vaughn d. Chris Hargas with the spear (12:24).

Eliminations: Vaughn threw out Espinosa; Texan threw out Rover; Rover pulled Texan out of the ring under the bottom rope and the referees missed it, thinking Texan had gone over the top. Venom threw out Core but was then eliminated himself by Vaughn and Hargas. Hargas threw out Static(with an assist from Blade finally sending him to the floor), but Vaughn dumped both Hargas and Blade out from behind for the win.

    WWE Smackdown
Chris Jericho enlightens us. Technically Shawn Michaels and Triple H HAVE been Tag Team Champions...just not with each other. Also, they've been in ladder matches but not TLC Matches(which are basically ladder matches ANYWAY). Jericho's been in a TLC Match or two(no mention of his tag team partner at the time). Jericho wants to be in the World Title picture, but the Batista-Kane match tonight is for the next shot at The Undertaker. General Manager Theodore Long decides to give Jericho "what he wants"...a non-title match with Taker tonight.

Cryme Tyme vs. The Hart Dynasty(w/ Natalya Neidhart): These teams have fought about seven gazillion times. The commentators put over Tyson Kidd's match with Rey Misterio Jr. last week on Smackdown but don't mention the Dynasty's tag match with DeGeneration X on Raw. Chaos breaks loose at the end and David Hart Smith hits the high-angle back suplex out of nowhere to pin Shad Gaspard.

Matt Hardy vs. C.M. Punk(w/...Festus Dalton?): Punk introduces the former Festus as "Luke Gallows"...see, drugs messed him up, but Punk showed him the way. He also condemns the upcoming Jeff Hardy DVD(available soon at WWEShop.com~!)...leading nicely into this match. Hardy has control of the matchup, but Gallows attacks Hardy right in front of the referee for the DQ. Punk and Gallows dish out the abuse after the matchup...and Gallows finishes the job with the GAS MASK~!(reverse full nelson into a spinebuster).

Kane vs. Batista: Not quite lucha libre-style here. Batista attacks the leg to gain an advantage, severely slowing Kane down. Kane stops a Demon Bomb attempt with his own leg clip, then delivers the chokeslam...but Batista gets a foot on the bottom rope. Kane follows Batista out of the ring and reverses a whip into the barricade...but Batista hits Kane in the leg with a chair behind the barricade so the referee can't see it. Thanks to that bit of subterfuge, Batista is the one to beat the ten-count and win the match.

John Morrison vs. Eric Escobar(w/ Vickie Guerrero) for the Intercontinental Title: EXCUSE ME~! Decent showing by Escobar, but he's outmatched as Morrison wins decisively with the Flying Chuck and Starship Pain. Afterwards, Vickie snaps and yells at Escobar before slapping him and storming out of the ring...backstage, Escobar asserts that he was using Vickie just as much as she was using him...

World Champion The Undertaker vs. Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho(n/t): Batista joins the commentary team...well, he mostly just sits there other than a brief distraction midway through the match. Jericho fares pretty well, but Taker sits up after the Lionsault. Jericho pays a visit to Chokeslam City(tm), but Batista runs in and clips the knee as Taker's setting up for the Tombstone. That's a DQ, but Batista's not done as he dishes out a severe beatdown with a steel chair...
    12:40 pm
    FCW TV 10/11/09
After a week of Wade Barrett, Dusty Rhodes is back alongside Byron Saxton...

Last week, they were hyping Heath Slater defending the Heavyweight Title against Joe Hennig...but it's been changed to Slater vs. Justin Angel. A random backstage cut-in has the mystery voice telling Hennig that he has received his last title shot...say what? Last week, the voice wished Slater luck in his future endeavors...

Brett DiBiase vs. Dylan Klein: These guys have fought a few times, including a match where Klein injured DiBiase's ribs. Klein attempts to target the midsection, but DiBiase nicely counters a fireman's-carry gutbuster attempt into a rolling prawn cradle for the three-count.

Tag Team Champions Bo & Duke Rotundo vs. The Dudebusters(Trent Beretta & Caylen Croft), non-title: Dusty refers to Duke as a "bulliphant"...because he's really big and strong, see. We are told that the Dudebusters want the titles back because Trent's mom is upset that they lost them. The strategy is clear: Keep Bo in and Duke out. Duke finally tags in to clean house, but Beretta breaks up a Rock Bottom attempt on Croft. The referee gets occupied with getting Bo out of the ring, allowing the Dudebusters to double-DDT Duke...and Croft gets the non-title pin!

General Manager Abraham Washington(w/ Candy Girl) enlightens us...we've got a big title match tonight, but he wants to shake things up. "It hit me like an LAPD officer what we need to do here this evening." It'll be best-of-three-falls with a thirty-minute time limit...goodie. We even have Howard Finkel in the house to handle the ring announcing for the main event...

Heath Slater vs. Justin Angel, best-of-three-falls for the Heavyweight Title: We've got the clock on the FCW-Tron, so I presume that'll be a factor in the matchup. It's not QUITE the "first" best-of-three-falls match on FCW TV but it is the first one that's a singles match(The Hart Dynasty beat Hennig & Slater for the Tag Team Titles in a best-of-three-falls matchup). Big opportunity for Angel, who had a cup of coffee with the Tag Team Titles and scored some big wins in singles competition lately.

Feeling-out to start...Angel stays on the arm despite Heath's best efforts to escape. Slater goes the cheapshot route...and around the six-minute mark, he gets the first fall with a backslide and feet on the middle rope for leverage!

Undaunted, Angel goes back on the attack and works a headlock. The commentators note that Angel is pacing himself differently due to the magnitude of the matchup. Slater escapes the hold with a back suplex and wails on him...the halfway point of the time limit comes and goes...we're still at 1-0 in favor of the champion. Saxton notes that Slater just has to outlast the time limit and he wins. Angel goes on the offense with his aerial attack but can't quite put Slater away...even after a springboard moonsault. Angel goes for one move too many and Slater raises the knees to block a splash off the top.

The match spills out of the ring and Heath takes advantage of the environment by ramming Angel back-first into the ringpost and apron. Saxton notes that Slater keeps glancing at the clock...again, he just has to stall out the clock(we've passed the twenty-minute mark at this point). Slater makes the mistake of trying to go aerial with a sunset flip off the second turnbuckle...Angel kneels down on it for the flash pin around the twenty-five minute mark!

Slater freaks and goes on the attack, spiking Angel with a DDT for a near-fall. Slater can STILL retain by outlasting the time limit...time-limit draw = tie goes to the champion. Angel hits an STO...for two. Heath retaliates with a spinebuster...for two. Three minutes to go. Angel gets a Blue Thunder Bomb...for two. Big spinkick by Angel...for two. Two-minute warning...Slater tries to take a walk but Angel cuts him off. Rude Awakening...for two. La Majistral...for two. One minute to go. Slater reverses Angel into the turnbuckles but Angel holds the ropes to block a Sweetness attempt. Slater is down and Angel goes topside with thirty seconds left. Heath cuts him off but Angel knocks him back down to the mat...450 Splash hits! 1-2-3 at the 29:56 mark(!) and Justin Angel is your NEWWWWW Florida Heavyweight Champion!

Next week: Serena^H^H^HMia Mancini vs. Angela Fong^H^H^HSavannah for the Queen Of FCW Crown.
