NWA Anarchy TV

Your hosts are Greg Hunter & John Johnson...

The New Wave & The Wild Bunch vs. Andrew Alexander, Mike Mosley, Jay Clinton, & Mr. Black: Johnson has a good line about calling Clinton "Global Warming" since he made the Iceberg disappear...bwahahaha. The faces decide to dish out the lion's share of abuse to Clinton because, hey, it's fun. Derrick Driver ends up in the wrong corner and takes a headbutt from Mr. Black...that'll turn the tide. Black sideslams Driver, but Clinton tags in and screws up by missing the elbowdrop off the top. Chris King takes Alexander out of the ring and Driver makes the tag to Billy Buck! Mr. Black steps in and immediately overpowers everyone, but the New Wave members manage to double-team him out of the ring. Buck superkicks Clinton into King's CK1(Fameasser) to give Buck the three-count.

Jacob Ashworth vs. Todd Sexton: The former referee has a size advantage over the veteran...but as the adage goes, there's no substitute for experience. Sexton gets the win with the running knee strike. He lines up for his finisher again, but El Veterano IV makes the save. Sexton turns the tide and goes after the mask but Veterano fights him off. Sexton challenges Veterano to a match and vows to unmask him...

Jerry Palmer introduces Kimo...he wants to show him the right way and asks the fans to give him a warm welcome. Palmer wants to pay tribute to the retired Iceberg...but he gets Jay Clinton instead. Clinton demands respect...so Palmer responds by de-hooding Kimo. Kimo dispatches Clinton in short order with the STO...and Palmer brings out Iceberg to a standing ovation. Cue the video package on the AnarchyTron. He asks one last favor from Iceberg...Caprice Coleman couldn't make it for his scheduled tag match with Truitt Fields against Phil Shatter & Shaun Tempers, so...one more time? Jeff G. Bailey protests immediately...but Iceberg himself decides to respond. "Iceberg" retired...but Edward Chastain will compete!

Heavyweight Champion Shadow Jackson & Mikael Judas vs. Jeremy Vain & Orion Bishop: Shadow matches power with Bishop, but finds himself in a bad part of town quickly. Judas takes matters into his own hands and cleans house...then tags in officially to test his strength against Bishop. Vain mouths off to Judas...with the expected result. Jackson re-enters the fray but falls victim to a cheapshot from Bishop. The champion takes a beating as the commentators emphasize the damage that everyone(sans Bishop) suffered at Fright Night. Shadow gets some separation with a Stunner on Bishop and finally makes the tag to Judas! Judas dishes out the punishment on Vain, but Shadow wants the tag...Judas gives it to him, but he immediately gets speared by Bishop! Vain goes for the kill, but Judas re-enters to chokeslam Vain! Judas tangles with Bishop...and back in the ring, Jackson finishes off Vain with the 1031 spinebuster!

Next week: Truitt Fields & Edward Chastain vs. Phil Shatter & Shaun Tempers, plus Talent & Money defend the Tag Team Titles against the Rowdy Friends.

FCW TV 12/20/09

Your hosts are Byron Saxton & Wade Barrett(not looking very jolly despite the Santa hat), your ring announcer is Savannah Fong.

Joe Hennig vs. Johnny Curtis: Curtis walked out on a tag match with Hennig not too long ago. YAY WRESTLING~! to start...but then Curtis slaps Hennig and it's breaking down in Orlando. Curtis teases a plancha at one point, but he's a heel so he just throws Hennig back in the ring. Curtis takes control by attacking the back and uses the Boston crab to wear him down...but Hennig turns the tide to score several near-falls in a row. Perfectplex is countered into a backslide attempt, but Hennig blocks that and Curtis clotheslines him down. Guillotine legdrop...nothing but mat and Hennig hits the somersault necksnap...for two. Hennig tries a re-entry sunset flip, but Curtis blocks it and holds the ropes for the cheap win!

General Manager Abraham (Saddam) Washington graces us with his presence...he brings out the FCW divas...and Aksana is still hanging out with Eli Cottonwood. Abe brings out Sweet Papi Sanchez^H^H^HClaus...haven't seen him in a while. Washington rolls out the usual insults before asking the divas what they want for Christmas. Liviana wants a tall, dark, and handsome man(according to Abe, she already has him). Rosa Mendes has a lengthy wish list, so Abe keeps things moving. Newcomer Naomi Night wants love and goodwill...boring. Aksana is next, but Eli doesn't want her to sit on Abe's lap. Suddenly, Papi Claus bashes Eli with the candy box...and he walks off with Aksana! Well, that was an odd development...

Alberto Banderas vs. Tag Team Champion(?) Trent Baretta(w/ Curt Hawkins & Caylen Croft): Croft ties up the ref and Hawkins runs interference, allowing Baretta to gain the edge. Trent goes aerial with a springboard move, but Banderas dropkicks him in mid-air to make El Big Comeback(appropriate for a luchador). Trent cuts him off and goes for the turnbuckle-walk DDT, but Banderas blocks and gets a jackknife pin! Enter the other Dudebusters for the beatdown, but enter Bo & Duke Rotundo to run off the heels.

Kaval vs. Eric Escobar: Kaval rushes the ring and lays into Escobar before the opening bell can even ring. We finally start the match officially and Escobar shifts into reverse gear once Kaval starts delivering his trademark kicks. Escobar stalls in the aisleway, so Kaval leaps to the top turnbuckle in one jump to dive onto him with a plancha! Chop exchange(WOO~!)...but Escobar takes him off his feet and attempts to target the bad leg. That doesn't last long as Kaval catches him in a modified armbar over the ropes...

Kaval stays on the arm, but springboards straight into a jumping leg lariat by Escobar. Escobar takes control from there and keeps Kaval off his feet...Kaval sends Escobar to the floor and connects with the baseball slide, but Escobar rams him backwards into the steel steps. He rearranges the furniture and teases a piledriver onto the steps, but Kaval backdrops him to the floor! They slug it out in the ring and Kaval connects with the rolling heel kick...for two. Tidal Crush...no, Escobar catches him in the Skyhigh...for two. Escobar whips Kaval into the ropes but Kaval springboards off the middle rope into a flying kick...for two. Escobar hits the modified Flatliner out of nowhere...but misses the flying boot. Shining Wizard by Kaval misses, but Kaval throws it in reverse and connects with the leg lariat to the back of the head! Third floor? Escobar cuts him off by hitting the ropes and goes for the superplex. Kaval fights out of that and Escobar lands painfully on the turnbuckles, leaving him hanging from the Tree Of Woe. He pulls himself up...and gets hit with the WARRIOR'S WAY~! from that position! Yup, that'll do it...outstanding matchup.

Next week: Hart Dynasty in action! So long from the Sunshine State!

Full lineup for the next episode:
-Alberto Banderas, Brett DiBiase, & Bo & Duke Rotundo vs. Heath Slater & The Dudebusters
-Jake Gabriel & Johnny Prime vs. The Hart Dynasty
-Skip Sheffield vs. Michael Tarver
-A.J. Lee vs. Natalya Neidhart

FCW TV 12/13/09

Your hosts are Dusty Rhodes & Byron Saxton...your broadcast colleagues are Leroy Morgan & Penny(Jenny) Cash. They interview Wes Brisco about Kaval's return to the ring. Your ring announcer is Savannah Fong.

Dino Carter vs. Eric Escobar: Speak of the devil...here he is. Carter uses his amateur background to score a few early near-falls, but Escobar turns the tide. Eric cuts off a rally attempt with a modified Flatliner, then finishes with a flying boot to the face. Time for enlightenment...he tells Kaval to speak his piece in person.

Johnny Prime vs. Johnny Curtis: Curtis is sporting a different look since his heel turn...and he refers to Prime as a "sacrificial lamb" in the inset interview. Curtis destroys Prime's arm for most of the match...Prime goes on offense, but Curtis escapes a Michinoku Driver attempt because of the achy-breaky arm and finishes with the spinning heel kick.

Leroy Morgan interviews Kaval...he's ready to return to the ring. However, Escobar attacks him from behind and tries to take out the previously-injured knee! The referee brigade arrives to break things up, but the damage has been done. The trainers and officials check on Kaval...but his match is NEXT!

Kaval vs. Donny Marlow: Kaval refuses to return to the dressing room and goes after Marlow...after the referee checks with him and gets the high sign, IT'S ON. Escobar resurfaces at ringside as Kaval unleashes his offensive attack...man, I've missed this guy. Marlow turns it around...Kaval pulls off a crucifix for a near-fall, leading to a chop exchange. Marlow hits the Samoan Drop, but goes to the top rope and misses the swandive headbutt! Kaval unloads with the kicks...rolling heel kick! Tidal Crush! WARRIOR'S WAY~! That'll do it...Escobar nearly jumps in the ring but Kaval spots him and we have a staredown...

Joe Hennig vs. Lennox McEnroe: Hennig seems to have things in control, but McEnroe surprises him with a cradle back suplex. He tries to do it again, but Hennig lands on top for a two-count. Definitely one of McEnroe's best FCW outings to date...but Hennig escapes a tilt-a-whirl move straight into the setup for the Perfectplex! 1-2-3.

Bo & Duke Rotundo vs. The Dudebusters for the Tag Team Titles: Hmm, we seem to have three Dudebusters...okay, it looks like we have Freebird/Demolition/Jersey Triad/Spirit Squad/Ego Express rules and any two can work a tag match. Dusty even makes reference to the Fabulous Freebirds. The challengers decide at match time with rock-paper-scissors, so it looks like Curt Hawkins & Caylen Croft are in the match with Trent Baretta at ringside. Baretta/Croft hold a non-title win over the champs, at any rate. The champs do well in the early going, so let's take a commercial break to kill the momentum. Duke catches a cross-body by Croft, but Hawkins had blind-tagged in and clips the knee. Curt wraps the leg around the ringpost a few times...Hawkins is a former WWE Tag Team Champion, you know. Good teamwork by the Dudebuster duo to keep Duke away from his corner...they go back to the post, but Duke uses his leg strength to pull Croft into the post and Bo gets the hot tag! He plants Hawkins with a bulldog...for two. He swats Trent off the apron, but that gives Hawkins the opening to hit a swinging neckbreaker...for two. Curt runs into a powerslam...Croft breaks up the pin. Duke drops Croft with a modified Rock Bottom...Hawkins grabs one of the title belts in the confusion but Bo spears him! The ref is still with Duke, allowing Trent to coldcock Bo with the other title belt! Hawkins covers Bo...and we have newwwww FCW Tag Team Champions!

Next week: Kaval vs. Escobar! So long from the Sunshine State!

ROH On HDNet

Shane Hagadorn introduces Chris Hero & Sara Del Rey...Hero is a bit offended that Jim Cornette didn't mention him by name last week when announcing the Pick Six matches. He's interrupted by Claudio Castagnoli...Hero's former tag team partner feels HE is the most worthy contender. They get into a rolling elbow/European uppercut debate as Mike Hogewood all but says "shut up and wrestle!" Jim Cornette decides to mediate...Hero has a Pick 6 match with Kenny Omega in a few weeks and Claudio has one tonight with Colt Cabana. Oh yeah, and Hero has a match next.

Chris Hero(w/ Sara Del Rey & Shane Hagadorn) vs. Kyle O'Reilly: Saw O'Reilly at an MECW show a while back and also on the pre-show at the last ROH event in Collinsville. Kyle has a good showing, but Hagadorn distracts him long enough for Hero to boot him off the apron. O'Reilly manages to block a rolling elbow and go on offense, scoring a near-fall after a turnbuckle-walk DDT. Hero escapes a cradle back suplex attempt and decks O'Reilly with the rolling elbow, then finishes the job with the Death Blow(Rude Awakening setup turned into a rolling elbow to the back of the head).

Lots of talking...Kyle Durden interviews the Embassy, Colt Cabana promises to "reverse the curse", and Delirious (apparently) accepts Sonjay Dutt's challenge to a submission match.

Necro Butcher(w/ traffic cone) vs. Joey Ryan(w/ Prince Nana & Ernie Osiris): Necro pulls the hair a bit...chest hair, that is. The match ends up outside the ring...bad news for Ryan as Necro slams him right over the guardrail into the front row of seats. He picks him up, only to slam him over the guardrail into another set of front-row seats. Necro's onslaught is only halted by a timely cheapshot from "Ernesto". Ryan takes control but spends too much time showboating and takes...a top-rope Frankensteiner?!? Osiris distracts Necro and Ryan throws powder in Necro's eyes...whoops, ref caught him, that's a DQ. Cue the beatdown...Erick Stevens runs in with a chair but the Embassy members were just leaving.

Colt Cabana vs. Claudio Castagnoli(w/ Prince Nana & Ernie Osiris): Busy night for Nana and company. Colt slaps away Claudio's glove and rolls him up for an early two-count...heh. YAY WRESTLING~! to start...Cabana finds unorthodox ways to counterwrestle. Claudio gets sick of the shenanigans and slaps Cabana...then a Nana tripup allows Castagnoli to deliver the European uppercut. Dave Prazak refers to Claudio as "Double C", though that could fit Cabana as well. Colt makes El Big Comeback, but Claudio shows his strength by catching him in mid-air for a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. A series of reversals lead to Colt getting the three-count out of nowhere by countering a catapult attempt into a modified rana pin!

Next week: Best-Of-2009 Special.

WWE Smackdown

Hornswoggle ruins Vickie Guerrero's perfect Christmas dinner...aww.

John Morrison, Matt Hardy, "R-Truth" Ron Killings, & Fit Finlay vs. Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre, C.M. Punk, Dolph Ziggler, & Luke Gallows: Notably, the face team comes out together to R-Truth's music and the heel team comes out together to Punk's music...not sure what that says about McIntyre or Morrison. Hardy takes the beating for his side...but Morrison gets the hot tag. Punk bails to tag Drew, but Drew doesn't spend TOO much time in the ring before tagging out himself. Chaos breaks loose...Finlay takes a Go 2 Sleep from Punk, Dolph takes a Side Effect from Hardy, then Morrison takes Gallows out of the game with the Flying Chuck and finishes Ziggler with the Starship Pain.

Chris Jericho has a vested interest in tonight's Tag Team Title match...he feels that he and The Big Show should still be top contenders and not the Hart Dynasty. That brings out the Dynasty...Jericho respects their background as a product of the Dungeon himself, but doesn't feel they deserve a title shot. The Harts do some solid mic work...but the interruption is interrupted by DeGeneration X on the Titantron. Triple H(being Triple H) buries everyone before Shawn Michaels segues into the blatant merchandise shilling. Jericho no-sells the DX promo and tells the Dynasty to make an impact...so they take out Jericho with the springboard Hart Attack!

Michelle McCool & Layla El annoy Mickie James some more backstage...their Christmas gift to her is a Jenny Craig gift certificate.

The Undertaker vs. Rey Misterio Jr. for the World Title: The commentators wonder if Taker's still feeling the effects of the chair match with Batista. Incredibly Rey manages to get the upper hand for a little while, but it doesn't last too long...Taker counters a flying Moshpit Leap from the apron by swinging him into the barricade. Taker looks to finish early but Rey escapes the Last Ride...takes Taker off his feet with a springboard headbutt, then hits a springboard legdrop...for two. Middle-rope springboard cross-body...nothing but boot. Huge chokeslam...but Batista runs in to attack Taker for the Sportz Entertainment Finish. Bah. Batista plants Taker with the spinebuster but Taker backdrops out of a Demon Bomb attempt. Rey suddenly revives with a springboard dropkick on Taker...619 on Taker! Springboard attempt...lands in Taker's grasp, but Batista spears Taker. Rey dropkicks Batista's knee and hits HIM with the 619 and a springboard Moshpit Leap! Matt Striker hypes the fact that the smallest guy in the fight is the last one standing...go figure.

Cryme Tyme vs. Bryce Andrews & Pat Buck: Before the match, the Cryme Tyme members dish out a beating on a grumpy Santa Claus. Buck gets dumped to the floor rather painfully and Andrews takes the G-9(fireman's-carry by Shad Gaspard/somersault neckbreaker off the second rope by JTG) to give JTG the pin.

Mickie James & Maria Kanellis vs. Beth Phoenix & Layla El: Women's Champion Michelle McCool joins the commentary team, leading to an interesting verbal exchange with Matt Striker. Beth and Layla don't seem to be on the same page as Layla tags herself in at one point. Mickie gets the hot tag and kicks Beth off the apron before finishing Layla with the crescent kick. She makes a beeline for Michelle, but Beth cuts her off and throws her into the broadcast table.

DeGeneration X vs. The Hart Dynasty(w/ Natalya Neidhart) for the Tag Team Titles: H does his own delayed vertical suplex on Tyson Kidd in the early going, dedicating it to David Hart Smith. Smith breaks up an early Pedigree attempt and the challengers isolate H. Smith does his own delayed vertical suplex...but H cuts off Kidd and makes the tag to Shawn. Flying Jalapeno hits, but Smith cuts off the attempt at the Macho Elbow to give Kidd an opportunity to avoid the move. Springboard Blockbuster by Kidd...gets two. Now it's Shawn on the receiving end of abuse...even Nattie gets a shot in. Kidd attemptes one aerial move too many and the springboard attempt ends in an inverted atomic drop! Enter H for the usual on Smith...but the Pedigree attempt is countered into the springboard Hart Attack! Cover...Shawn breaks up the pin! Kidd whiffs on a plancha attempt on Shawn. Running powerslam attempt by Smith is escaped and H shoves Smith straight into a Shawn superkick from the apron...the Pedigree follows for the usual result. Hornswoggle makes an appearance to join the celebration...

Next week: Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison for the Intercontinental Title.

Primo Colon via frog splash. I'm not sure if it's possible to go lower on the Raw totem pole than this.
-Kane d. Mike Knox via chokeslam. Knox has been pulling out some surprising moves lately...it started with the heavyweight cross-body and now he's doing pretty impressive dropkicks for a guy his size.

NWA Anarchy TV

Time for a rundown of Fright Night...

Tag Team Mega Rumble: Mike Posey & Seth Delay are #1 and #2, so they goof around. They do the Slim J music/decoy again...but a fan jumps the guardrail and throws off his Halloween mask. Greg Hunter: "Will the REAL Slim J please stand up?" The numbers catch up to him momentarily(he's #3, by the way) and J throws both Delay and Posey over the top rope! J dives onto both with a corkscrew plancha to eliminate himself...so we clip to later in the matchup as Mr. Black enters and immediately cleans house. Jamie Lee and Jessco Blue hit the floor. Chris King takes a literally ring-shaking sitout chokeslam. Another clip...the New Wave members finally get Mr. Black out with a double Codebreaker followed by a double dropkick. However, Andrew Alexander dumps Steven Walters while his back is turned. Clip to the finish...Alexander has things well in hand, but J-Rod shocks him by throwing him out instead! J-Rod & B.J. Hancock get a Tag Team Title shot later in the night...but Talent & Money jump them immediately to kick-start the match.

Talent & Money vs. J-Rod & B.J. Hancock for the Tag Team Titles: Quick matchup...we only see the finish as J.T. Talent pins Hancock after the Widow's Peak/Paydirt combo.

Bo Newsome vs. Brodie Ray Chase: Another just-the-finish clip as the re-entry sunset flip actually works, netting Newsome a big victory. Chase plants the winner with the Doctor Bomb and Delay & Posey enter the ring to assist the beatdown, holding Newsome for Chase to whip him with a belt. Slim J makes the save but the heels were just leaving.

Skirra Corvus vs. Hayden Young for the Young Lions' Title: Young has control after a Michinoku Driver, but takes too long going to the top rope and misses the Flying Squirrel Splash. Corvus finishes with the Graveyard Shift to retain his title.

Mikael Judas vs. Kimo(w/ Jeff G. Bailey): Kimo shows no fear in attacking Judas right out of the gate. The commentators note that Kimo has NEVER been decisively beaten...but that didn't stop Judas from naming his stipulations. Bailey jumps on Judas' back to stop a chokeslam attempt, then Phil Shatter runs in to spear Judas while the referee is occupied with getting the manager out of the ring! A delayed cover by Kimo...gets 2 1/2! Kimo escapes an attempt at El Crucifijo and hits his STO variant...for 2 1/2. Clip to Judas hitting El Crucifijo on the second try and crawling over for the cover...Kimo shoots a shoulder off the canvas, but slightly too late! Jerry Palmer leaves with Kimo as Bailey glares at his former protege Judas...

Shaun Tempers vs. Ace Rockwell for the T.V. Title, last-man-standing match: Jump to the end as Rockwell hits Aces High, but both men are down...Ace rises, but Tempers barely answers the count as well. Rockwell uses the AIRPLANE SPIN~! and that doesn't seem to do either guy much good. Ace threatens to use the duct tape, but Tempers stops that with a low blow. He duct-tapes Rockwell to the top rope and pummels him while he's defenseless...but Ace won't stay down. Multiple chairs ends up in the ring...and Rockwell threatens to put Tempers through a table, but Tempers gets out of dodge. Tempers delivers a Rude Awakening over the top rope. Ace turns the tide, but Skirra Corvus makes an appearance with Dan Wilson in a wheelchair! The distraction gives the champion a momentary advantage...but Rockwell fights back and delivers a superplex onto a pile of chairs in the ring! Both men are down...and neither can answer the ten-count. The referee decides that the first man to his feet will win...it looks like Ace is gonna do it, but Tempers hangs onto the ref as SOMEONE trips up Rockwell from outside the ring! Tempers regains his feet first...and the man on the outside is revealed to be Azrael.

The Reverend enlightens us...

Phil Shatter(w/ Jeff G. Bailey) vs. Caprice Coleman for the National Heavyweight Title: Outstanding match, even in clipped form. Shatter blocks a top-rope Frankensteiner and executes a sunset flip off the second rope, pulling Coleman straight up into an attempt at the PTSD Powerbomb. However, Coleman counters into a rana for a CLOSE near-fall. PTSD attempt is countered by a shoulder to the ribs...snapmare driver! Bailey distracts the referee from seeing the sure pinfall, costing Coleman his best chance at victory. Coleman goes aerial by springboarding off the middle rope...and gets speared in mid-air! Shatter gets the pin after that...

Jeremy Vain(w/ Orion Bishop) vs. Shadow Jackson, dog collar match for the Heavyweight Title: Bishop is banned from ringside and Palmer brings out Kimo to enforce that edict. Vain busts Shadow open with chain-assisted punches...he seems desperate as he keeps beating Jackson down and going for pins. Bishop comes BACK out to hold Jackson, but Vain accidentally knocks his bodyguard off the apron! Shadow rallies but Vain clocks him with the chain to set up the VDT...for 2 1/2! Vain whips him with the chain, but it looks like Hulk-Up time...the champ attempts another VDT, but Shadow powers him away, then uses the chain to yank him into a 1031 Spinebuster! Cover, count, and we have a newwwww Anarchy Heavyweight Champion! Shadow has no time to celebrate as Bishop attacks him with Vain joining in...Mikael Judas enters the ring with a chair and the heels bail. Jackson finally gets to celebrate with his belt, but Judas has an eye on the gold...

LWA Special Comment

Much better crowd than usual in House Springs, both in numbers and energy...good show there.

Only card change was the planned triple threat Medallion match changing to a one-on-one encounter in the absence of Steven Kennedy.

Talked to Mike Sharona for the first time in a while...he's moved back to the St. Louis area and is doing some MMA stuff nowadays.

Hey, a face win to start the show! What a concept! Face Espy is a hard sell for the LWA fanbase, but he started getting good reactions by the end of the matchup.

I don't think anyone in the building(myself included) thought Dash Rando had a hope in hell against Jordan Lacey. We were treated(?) to a Moon Over House Springs near the end of the matchup as Rando pulled Lacey's tights down...err. I think that was Lacey's first decisive defeat since reinventing himself...

The only match that didn't have a clear face/heel setup was Sterling vs. Aarons...unfortunately, BOTH sides made an effort to draw hatred before the match as Sterling did his "pushup challenge" and Aarons' manager Dusk Rose invited Sterling to join his male modeling agency.

The ring announcer flubbed the line after the Raw vs. Pierre match, initially thinking that Pierre had won by DQ before being corrected to say that Raw won by knockout. They did the pseudo-respect thing afterwards...

With Evan Gelistico an unwavering heel, Sean Vincent was in the unusual position of being the face for the night. They've faced each other before...this time around, Evan CHEATED TO WIN~!

Future vs. Wyatt was a no-DQ matchup(fitting Future's Medallion Of Brutality)...though Wyatt's Medallion Of Torment is traditionally only won by submission. Yeah, I lost track of the Medallion rules too. Anywho, Future is somewhat of a tweener but Wyatt is definitely a heel, plus they have plenty of past history. The chairs that came into play had padded seats, somewhat blunting the impact of their usage. That was my excuse when Wyatt's fisherman buster onto a chair didn't end the match, though I did note that Pete Madden was probably rolling over in his grave and he wasn't dead yet.

I noted some degree of booking consolidation since the Heavyweight Title situation was combined with the war over the LWA Presidency. Speaking of hard-sells, I'm still getting used to Vega as a top face(despite his ties to Dingo. He definitely had a breakout year as a singles competitor in 2009 after being mostly a tag team wrestler with Johnny Vinyl before that. The big spot of the match was Vega hitting an Air Raid Crash off the apron and through a table. Vega nearly won after a Whiplash, but Luke Roberts distracted the referee and Evan ran in to superkick Vega, but Gary didn't quite get the pin after that. Vega recovered in time to blitz the Nightowl with offense...a superbomb, lariat, and Burning Hammer finally got the job done. Tim Alley officially bid Luke Roberts adieu from the promotion as he threw off his LWA-logo suit jacket and stormed out the front door...

Fun show...haven't heard much about the January schedules for the local groups. LWA runs on the 23rd, Broadway on the 9th and 16th, AAPW on the 9th and 16th. I don't THINK Dynamo, HVW, or IHW run again until February. Don't know about MECW's upcoming schedule...will keep everyone posted, as always. :)

Your hosts are Byron Saxton & Wade Barrett, your ring announcer is Jenny Cash...

Tommy Dreamer vs. Eric Escobar: Dreamer sucks up to the crowd and says the atmosphere reminds him of the original ECW. He respects the up-and-coming talent, but has a problem with Escobar's attitude...so we have this ECW vs. Smackdown match. The fight spills out of the ring and Dreamer takes out Escobar with a somersault dive...but Escobar turns the tide by crotching him on the guardrail. Escobar brings the steel steps into play and teases a suplex onto them, but Dreamer reverses into a superplex! Cue the comeback(Tree Of Woe dropkick included)...but Escobar escapes the DDT attempt. Flying boot connects...but Dreamer reaches the ropes to break the pin. Escobar attempts a fireman's-carry move, but Dreamer escapes that and hits the DDT for the victory.

Mr. FCW vs. Eli Cottonwood: If Mr. FCW wins, Jake Gabriel is reinstated...of course, there is "speculation" that Mr. FCW actually IS Gabriel. General Manager Abraham (Saddam) Washington(w/ Liviana) shows up...he says that if Mr. FCW loses, he'll have to unmask AND Gabriel will be fired. Cottonwood overpowers the masked man in a hurry and stomps him down in the corner...whoops, won't break at five, that's a DQ. Of course, Mr. FCW doesn't look like a winner...referees pile into the ring but can't stop Eli from delivering the chokeslam.

Joe Hennig, Skip Sheffield, & Johnny Prime vs. Heath Slater, Vance Archer, & Michael Tarver: Byron says the match consists of participants in the previous episode's Super 8 Challenge...except that Archer and Prime weren't in it(whoops). Hennig takes the abuse for his side...but Skip gets a hot tag! It's breaking down in Orlando...Slater hits the Sweetness on Sheffield but Hennig breaks up the pin. Archer and Hennig tangle...and Skip has the opportunity to recover, catching Slater in the Over-The-Shoulder Boulder Holder for the big win!

Byron Saxton interviews Kaval, part three: He says you don't "snitch" where he comes from, but this is an exception. Who attacked him? Eric Escobar! He was the face champion at the time and Kaval was in line for a title shot, so it makes some sense since we know Escobar's true colors nowadays. Kaval is back and gunning for Mr. Escobar.

Justin Angel vs. Curt Hawkins(w/ Dudebusters) for the Heavyweight Title: Hawkins won the Super 8 Challenge last week for this championship match. Angel gets the better of the technical exchange, but Hawkins throws him to the floor and whips him into the steps. Curt focuses on the back and keeps the champion grounded...but Angel outmaneuvers him to deliver a baseball slide and corkscrew plancha! Cue the educated feet...and he hits the springboard moonsault for a near-fall. Stinger Splash hits...but another springboard move goes awry as Hawkins dropkicks him coming down! Cover...for two. Hawkins slams him and tries for his own top-rope attack...the elbowdrop HITS but it only gets two! Angel ducks a clothesline to hit an STO...for two. Angel eats elbow on a blind charge, but Hawkins gets caught on the turnbuckles and Angel executes a top-rope Frankensteiner! Angel goes up for the 450 Splash and hits it for the win...but he has no time to celebrate as the Dudebusters go on the attack. Alberto Banderas hits the ring for the save and they clear the ring of the heels to close the show!

Next week: Kaval returns to action! So long from the Sunshine State!

Your hosts are Byron Saxton & Wade Barrett, your ring announcer is Jenny Cash.

Alberto Banderas vs. Trent Baretta(w/ Caylen Croft): Banderas defeated Croft on the previous episode, so now he faces the other half of the Dudebusters. Croft's distraction allows Baretta to connect with a baseball slide to the left shoulder...Trent targets the arm after that. Meanwhile, Saxton is trying to figure out which of his broadcast colleagues has the more bizarre verbage. Alberto powers out of a short-arm scissors in impressive fashion...Trent cuts him off, but Banderas blocks a turnbuckle-walk DDT and swats Croft off the apron. Banderas blocks a second attempt at the "Dudebuster DDT"...and finishes with a step-up enzuigiri in the corner!

A.J. Lee vs. Courtney Taylor: Courtney had a brief stint as an ECW backstage interviewer...she's better known in FCW as Alex Riley's former valet. Lee scored a win over Mia Mancini in a tag match a few episodes ago...speaking of which, the Queen Of FCW is seated at ringside to observe the matchup. Decent enough diva match...Lee picks up the win with Sliced Bread #2 and Mia walks to the back without acknowledging the winner.

It's time for a special FCW edition of the Abraham (Saddam) Washington Show...Abe makes his entrance with Liviana by his side. He introduces the newest FCW diva Aksana, all the way from Lithuania. Liviana seems a bit jealous of Abe's wandering eye...but we get a random appearance from Eli Cottonwood who seems to be smitten with Aksana himself. While the two lovebirds get acquainted, Abe notices Jake Gabriel in the audience(he bought a ticket~!). Abe tells Gabriel to give a message to "Mr. FCW"...he's facing Eli next week. If Mr. FCW wins, he'll reinstate Gabriel. Gabriel says he'll pass that message along to Mr. FCW if he sees him...heh.

Dino Carter vs. Donny Marlow(w/ Jimmy Uso): Looks like our resident Samoans are joining forces and They Want Da Belts(tm). Carter is making his FCW debut...no really, he didn't just change his name. He shows his technical skill in the early going...but Marlow cuts him off with an old-school Stungun. Carter gets in some offense, but Marlow catches him with the Samoan Drop and finishes with a swandive headbutt off the second rope.

Back to Byron Saxton's interview with Kaval...he's ready to compete with the best. Guess we'll have to wait for part three to get the identity of the mystery attacker...

Heavyweight Champion Justin Angel joins the commentary team for the main event...he defends the title against the winner of the matchup.

Super 8 Challenge: We've got Curt Hawkins, Heath Slater, Michael Tarver, Dylan Klein, Tyler Reks, Brett DiBiase, Joe Hennig, & Skip Sheffield. It's essentially a battle royal, but the final two men fight to a pin/submission finish. Angel has no real preference...but he does want to face someone new. Klein throws out DiBiase, but Hawkins sends Klein to the floor shortly thereafter. Slater backdrops Hennig over the top, eliminating one of the favorites. Reks & Sheffield double up on Tarver to get him out. Hawkins & Slater try the double-team strategy and throw Reks over the top, so they stick together to work on Sheffield. However, Hawkins remembers that it's every man for himself and tosses Slater!

We're down to Sheffield vs. Hawkins...and the winner faces Angel for the title next week. Hawkins lures Sheffield in and snaps the arm off the top rope, then throws him shoulder-first into the ringpost(PSYCHOLOGY~!). The fans chant "Wut It Do" to rally Skip...and he hits the Thesz Press and strutting splash. Hawkins holds the ropes to block the OTSBH, but runs into a powerslam...for 2 1/2. Hawkins nicely reverses into a swinging neckbreaker...for 2 1/2. A big mid-ring collision leaves both men down...then Hawkins blocks Skip's finisher again and gets a rollup pin with a handful of tights!

Next week: Tommy Dreamer vs. Eric Escobar plus Justin Angel vs. Curt Hawkins for the Heavyweight Title. So long from from the Sunshine State!

Your hosts are Byron Saxton & Dusty Rhodes, your ring announcer is Jenny Cash(good to see her back).

Alberto Banderas vs. Caylen Croft(w/ Trent Baretta): Dusty congratulates Byron on the ECW gig...woo. Banderas is bigger than your average luchador but can fly extremely well. Trent gets in a cheapshot to give his partner the edge...Croft slows the pace down, but the fans rally behind Alberto. Croft avoids a middle-rope moonsault, but Banderas lands on his feet and gets the win via German suplex.

The South Beach Boys(Darren Young & Percy Watson) vs. Vance Archer & Lennox McEnroe: 1-800-GET-DOWN~! Sounds like they have D.J. Gabriel's old music. Archer is coming off his WWE/ECW debut and now has the shorter hair. McEnroe cheapshots Watson behind the referee's back, setting him up for IT'S THE BIG FOOT from Archer. Yeah, the SBBs are definitely faces. Young gets a hot tag and takes a cue from Human Tornado with a dance-step stompdown in the corner on Archer. Watson tags back in and the SBBs hit a double Death Valley Driver on Archer for the win! Jenny interviews the winners; they're in a good mood and They Want Da Belts(tm).

Joe Hennig vs. Dylan Klein: Klein has a big ego considering I honestly can't remember the last time he won a match. Klein targets the back but Hennig fights back...Klein goes for a fireman's-carry somethingorother and Hennig counters out into the Perfectplex for the victory.

Byron Saxton conducts an up-close interview with...KAVAL~! They show footage from his international exploits...he's been on the shelf with a knee injury but he's finally ready to make a return. We'll see more of the interview in the upcoming episodes...and we may finally find out who attacked him all those months ago.

Johnny Prime vs. Curt Hawkins: Prime builds some momentum, but Hawkins plants him with the elevated DDT out of nowhere to get the win. Ever since that winning streak against the long-forgotten Saxton Conglomerate, Prime hasn't been able to get back on track...

Justin Angel vs. Heath Slater for the Heavyweight Title: It seems like they ran through a whole feud in that one best-of-three-falls match(heel champ wins screwy, face challenger wins non-title encounter, face wins title). This is Heath's mandatory championship rematch after a few run-ins with Angel since that title change. YAY WRESTLING~! to start with Angel in control...but some aerial tactics backfire as Slater dropkicks him off the apron. Angel appears to land badly on his left arm and Heath pounces on the injury. Angel fires back with a middle-rope dropkick out of nowhere, but Heath goes back to the arm to cut him off. PSYCHOLOGY~! Angel goes on offense with spinkicks and forearm shots from the good arm...and hits a springboard cross-body for two. Blue Thunder Bomb...for two. Heath Flapjacks Angel into the top turnbuckle...and hits the Sweetness! Cover...for two-and-a-half! Powerbomb attempt but Angel goes up and over into a sunset flip...for two. Heath gets frustrated and hits turnbuckles on a blind charge...Angel goes topside for the 450 Splash and connects for the win to retain the belt!

Next week: The FCW Super 8 Match(whatever that is). So long from the Sunshine State!

LWA Retro Review: Yuletide Terror 2006

Live(on a three-plus-year tape delay...12/9/06, to be exact) from the Knights Of Columbus Hall in House Springs, MO:

LWA President "Mad Dog" Daffronian introduces the show, but says he's stepping down at the end of the night. He introduces an attractive young lady named Lily as the new ring announcer, but he does the honor of asking if WE'RE READY TO GET THE FIRST MATCH STARTEEEEED...

Evan Gelistico vs. Dingo: Weird to see face Evan vs. heel Dingo here. Don't recognize the referee. Lots of high-impact moves exchanged, including Dingo hitting a nasty Air Raid Crash and Evan delivering a Tower Of London. Dingo wins clean with the 'Driver in around twelve minutes.

Submission Squad music hits AGAIN as Nick Tyson and Medallion Champion Pierre Abernathy come out to enlighten us. They're interrupted by...Santa Claus? Well, it IS Yuletide Terror. They're bad guys so they beat up Santa.

XXX Jordan Lacey vs. Shorty Biggs(w/ Jewells) vs. Brandon Espinosa: I recognize THIS ref: Luke Roberts. Haven't seen Shorty as a heel in a while. Espy looks like a totally different person compared to today. Lacey dumps Espy into a trash can at one point and brings it around ringside so fans can throw trash into it...then runs down Shorty with the can. Lacey has Shorty set up for the Jenna Jameson, but Jewells distracts the ref as C.J. McManus runs in to superkick Lacey. Shorty lands on top, but Jewells has the ref's attention for a little TOO long and thus the opportunity for a pinfall is lost. Shorty delivers a legdrop off the second turnbuckle and pins Lacey anyway at around the nine-minute mark.

Billy McNeil vs. Nick Tyson: The hype machine is already going full-blast for Tyson's match with Alex Shelley in March. Really good match as Tyson keeps targeting the arm and trying to take him down into the Gateway City Stretch. McNeil fends it off a few times and even counters into a few near-falls, but Tyson finally plants him with the cradebuster and locks on the 'Stretch for the tapout in around thirteen minutes.

Pierre Abernathy vs. Dorian Victor(w/ Jewells) for the Medallion: This was an odd heel/heel feud that lasted several months...Dorian appears to be the face for the night. Pierre hits the Culture Shock out of nowhere but Victor rolls out of the ring. They have an exchange on the floor that ends with Dorian hitting the Bankbuster outside the ring...he beats the ten-count for the win at around the ten-minute mark, but championships don't change hands on a countout so Pierre retains the medal.

Brian James vs. C.J. McManus: James has been working AAPW lately...hasn't been in an LWA ring in a while. C.J. hides under the ring and sneak-attacks James at one point...but he gets the nutty idea that he can chokeslam the much-stronger James. James blocks that and hits a major chokeslam of his own...ouch. James follows up with a spinebuster but Shorty is out to chat with the ref. That distraction gives McManus the chance to recover...and James turns around right into the superkick. That'll do it in around nine minutes.

Daffronian officially resigns as President and hands the reigns over to Bill Collins...but Collins goes heel and boots Mad Dog out of "his ring" before trashing the fans.

Adam Raw vs. Gary The Barnowl in a no-DQ match for the Heavyweight Title: This title shot was established in the previous show's highlight reel as a "gift" from Raw to Gary...he's a good kid, the fans seem to like him, let's give him a main-event slot...not like he'll win or anything...right?... This is face vs. face, needless to say. It does look like a mismatch on paper in terms of size and power...Gary has the edge when he's able to fly and keep things moving,, but Raw gets the better of a brawling exchange on the floor. Nice exchange as Gary counters a running powerslam into a victory roll, but Raw powers out of that straight into a wheelbarrow suplex. Raw controls a lot of the match, but doesn't seem to have the usual killer instinct. Gary ranas him out of the ring and nails the somersault plancha, but misses the Cuckoo's Nest elbow...now Raw seems to be taking things a bit more seriously. The champ manhandles the Barnowl, cheese-grating him against the guardrail to bust him open and then press-slamming him back into the ring over the top rope.

Raw still can't keep Gary down, so he remembers it's no-DQ and brings out a ladder and table. Gary has a chance to clear the cobwebs and counters a fireman's-carry slam attempt into a major DDT. Raw is set up on the table...double-stomp off the ladder doesn't break the table! A subsequent frog splash does the trick! Both guys are spent but Raw comes up swinging...fallaway suplex attempt, but Gary floats over into a rollup for the flash pin to win the title in sixteen minutes! The defeated Raw silently walks back to the dressing room while the other Bearded Men From Space Station 11(Billy, Jordan, Evan) come out to celebrate with the Barnowl. Bonus backstage footage shows Raw throwing a tantrum over the loss and demanding his rematch at the next show.

The show officially closes with Daffronian(having ring-announced for the last time) leaving his "Dr. Love" labcoat and microphone in the ring as he leaves.

WWE Smackdown

Batista confronts General Manager Theodore Long over the match restart at the TLC PPV and tries to intimidate him into giving him another title shot. However, Rey Misterio Jr. steps up to the plate...so there's our top-contenders' match. Winner faces The Undertaker for the World Title next week on Smackdown.

John Morrison, "R-Truth" Ron Killings, & Matt Hardy vs. Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre, C.M. Punk, & Luke Gallows: Good extended matchup...Punk pins Hardy after hitting him with the Slammy he won on Monday's Raw.

Eric Escobar vs. Kane: Yup, Vickie Guerrero set this up. Eric gets in a few shots, but Kane wins via chokeslam. Vickie laughs in Eric's face...but he's still defiant.

The Great Khali(w/ Runjin Singh) vs. Chris Jericho: Oh wow. After being abused for a minute or two, Jericho decides "screw this" and takes a walk for the countout...probably a wise move.

Jimmy Wang Yang & Slam Master Jr vs. The Hart Dynasty(w/ Natalya Neidhart): Woo. Yang cleans house in the early going, then he and J deliver stereo suicide dives! Tyson Kidd turns the tide on Yang and tags in the powerhouse David Hart Smith. Todd Grisham brings up the fact that Dennis Miller made a guest host recommendation to Vince McMahon on Monday: Bret Hart. Yang takes out Smith with a flying spinning DDT off the second rope and tags are made on both sides! J has a strong run against Kidd, but Nattie pulls him off the apron and slams him on the floor! Smith tags in and they finish J with the Hart Attack. Nattie decides to issue El Big Challenge to DeGeneration X for the Tag Team Titles next week. Revenge is a dish best served cold...and they vow to defeat DX and surpass their preceding family members.

Maria Kanellis vs. Beth Phoenix: Michelle McCool & Layla El try to get all buddy-buddy with Beth backstage and only seem to get on her bad side...uh-oh. Maria won the Diva Of The Year Slammy on Monday and is slightly more competitive than you might expect...but Beth still picks up the win with the Glam Slam.

Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Batista: Winner faces Taker for the World Title next week...Batista doesn't seem too worried and manhandles Rey right away. Rey hangs onto the ropes for dear life to avoid an early Demon Bomb attempt, then springboard-dropkicks Batista out of the ring and follows him out with a springboard Moshpit Leap! However, he goes for one aerial move too many and Batista catches the moonsault off the apron, Oklahoma-Stampeding him into the barricade! Batista overpowers Rey for several minutes...but he won't stay down. Batista's an idiot and tries to go aerial, eating a dropkick as he jumps off the second rope. Rey rallies and takes to the air, wheelbarrowing into a bulldog...for two. Springboard legdrop...for two. Counters a sideslam attempt into a tilt-a-whirl DDT...for two. He connects with the 619, but the springboard splash hits knees...Batista gets a two-count. Running powerslam...for two. Rey escapes a Demon Bomb but runs into a Bossman Slam...and Rey barely grabs the rope. Demon Bomb attempt again...Rey fights out for a rana to send Batista out of the ring. Batista loses his temper and grabs a chair, but throws it down when the referee warns him. Batista re-enters the ring and spears Rey...for two! Spinebuster pickup...but he takes too long to deliver and Rey counters into a small package for the flash pin!

Next week: Taker vs. Rey for the World Title, plus DX vs. Hart Dynasty for the Tag Titles.

FCW TV 11/15/09

Your hosts are Byron Saxton & Wade Barrett and your ring announcer is Savannah Fong...

Wes Brisco vs. Dawson Alexander: Mr. Jennifer Hudson seems to be a heel now. Brisco seems to have spent most of HIS absense at the tattoo parlor. Alexander wins a competitive match with a Ron Simmons-style spinebuster. Savannah does the post-match interview and toots his own horn...he's a celebrity, don'cha know.

Skip Sheffield & A.J. Lee vs. Dylan Klein & Queen Of FCW Mia Mancini: I believe A.J. went by April Lee previously. The ladies have a good exchange, then the guys tangle. Skip nearly finishes Klein quickly, but Mia slaps him and Klein nails him from behind. Skip makes the comeback and the ladies tag back in as the guys take it to the floor...another nice exchange ends in Lee hitting an Asai DDT to get the upset win over the Queen!

Joe Hennig vs. Heath Slater: Plenty of history here...former tag champs, then Slater went heel and ducked Hennig when he held the Heavyweight Title. Slater has a unique counter for an attempted leapfrog out of the corner, catching the feet and pulling Hennig out into a modified lungblower/Codebreaker. The advantage shifts back and forth...but Hennig reverses a whip to send Heath straight into the referee. Slater brings in a chair, but Hennig stops him from using it...Heath begs off, but the referee revives to catch Hennig with the chair and calls for the DQ. Ha ha, Heath wins.

Heavyweight Champion Justin Angel, Tyler Reks, & Mr. FCW vs. Alex Riley, Eli Cottonwood, & Michael Tarver: The masked "Mr. FCW" looks suspiciously like Jake Gabriel(who was banned from the promotion after last week's handicap match)...he even enters the ring the same way. Wade Barrett smells a rat...in the meantime, the faces do a good job of isolating Tarver until Cottonwood yanks Reks to the floor. Angel finally gets a hot tag and goes to town on Riley...but Eli sticks his nose into things AGAIN, leading to Angel tagging out to Mr. FCW. Mr. FCW takes control against Riley and finishes him off with...go figure...the wheelbarrow suplex(Vindicator).

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Eric Escobar: This is billed as "ECW vs. Smackdown"...both are FCW graduates returning to their old stomping grounds. Escobar held the Florida Heavyweight Title early in 2009...Yoshi never really achieved a lot of success in FCW though his fortunes changed after his WWE/ECW debut. Escobar avoids an early attempt at the roundhouse kick, but Yoshi takes them both out of the ring with a Cactus Clothesline. Escobar reverses a whip into the steel steps, turning things in his favor. I wish they hadn't pulled the plug on the Escobar/Vickie alliance so quickly...I've liked Eric's heel work better. Escobar targets the back...but Yoshi comes back off the ropes with a flying DDT! Cue the educated feet...spinning backfist gets two. He gets him in the octopus hold but Escobar reaches the ropes. Yoshi gets caught with a Skyhigh out of nowhere...for two. Escobar catches a cross-body, but the slam attempt is countered into the Steamboat cradle...for two. Escobar hits a jumping reverse Stunner and follows up with the flying boot...but Yoshi reaches the ropes. Escobar comes off the ropes for the kill, but runs into the big roundhouse kick and Yoshi gets the win!

Next week: Justin Angel vs. Heath Slater for the Heavyweight Title. So long from the Sunshine State!
